Brigitte Brandmair, Manager of Scientific Investigations

Brigitte Brandmair is a self-employed, autonomous, and internationally active certified conservator of musical instruments. She holds a degree from the Cologne University of Applied Sciences in the conservation, analysis, and documentation of antique, primarily classical Italian, instruments. In addition to her scientific background, Brigitte is an artisan with a Master’s Degree in string instrument making. These studies, along with her apprenticeship as a carpenter, provide the foundation for Brigitte’s comprehensive approach and expertise regarding musical instruments. Alongside her instrument conservation work Brigitte also delivers lectures, publishes articles, and is involved in several international research projects. She is one of the two editors and authors of the standard-setting publication, “Stradivari Varnish,” and is currently the manager of scientific investigations for the French Bow Research Institute (FBRI).
